Dancer – choreographer – Performer – Trainer and Artistic Director. Sayouba SIGUE of Burkinabè origin was born in Abidjan in Ivory Coast and has lived in Lyon since 2012.

 

He discovered the world of dance in high school in Burkina Faso through inter-school cultural activities and learned a little on the job. It will begin with urban dances, for video clips and advertising spots.

Her encounter with contemporary dance was the trigger that changed everything.

This is how dance, from a simple school distraction, became a passion which he chose to make his profession.

 

In 2001, he joined the Teguerer company in which he benefited from different training with several choreographers of different styles and origins.

After the unfortunate death of her mentor and choreographer Souleymane Porgo in 2006, Sayouba took responsibility for the company.

Several beautiful artistic encounters will mark her journey: Irène Tassembédo, Gahe Armand, Nathalie Veuillet, Vera Sander, Kalpana Raghuraman, Eric Mezino, Alassane Congo, Karin Beier, Kettly Noel….

 

In 2010, he was a finalist in the largest contemporary dance competition in Africa “Danse l’Afrique Danse” with his two shows “A Suivre” as a solo show and “Danse des Mots” as a group piece.

Since 2015 he has been an artistic assistant for Faso Danse Théâtre with choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly with whom he has worked since 2006.

​

In 2015, Sayouba joined the Hamburg State Theater SchauspielHaus under the direction of Karin Beier where he spent 5 wonderful years.

​

In event shows, we owe him, among other things, the choreography of the show “The Colors of Peace” of the 18th edition of the Lyon Dance Biennale parade in 2018 with 300 amateur dancers (city of Villeurbanne) and that of 2020 “Afriquarks” with the city of Lyon 8 for 250 dancers…

​

Sigué has also been co-artistic director of the Teguerer company (France-Burkina) for around ten years and of the Dialaw Festival-Rythmes & Formes du Monde (Senegal) since 2022.
